Fellow in Anaesthesia for major head and neck reconstrucive surgery– Royal Devon and Exeter NHSFT

The post would suit a higher or advanced registrar who wants experience and training in the management of complex ENT, maxillofacial and plastic surgery patients. 

The post would be for 3 - 6 months with a view to achieving higher or advanced training in ENT/maxillofacial/plastics anaesthesia.

The regional centre at Exeter for head and neck reconstruction and tumour surgery can offer unique experience in the management of difficult airways, complex awake fibre optic intubations, prolonged surgery and the management of re-constructive flaps.

Duties of the post include:

•           Approximately 2-3 days per week of dedicated ENT/maxfacs/plastics  anaesthesia.

•           High risk pre-operative assessment

•           Opportunity and post-fellowship study time for audit, service improvement and research.

•           An element of service commitment to include the registrar on call rota and  out of hours obstetrics.

 

The post will concentrate on ENT/maxfacs/plstics anaesthesia but on occasions there may be an element of general service duties.

There are also excellent opportunities in Exeter for a suitable trainee to be involved in teaching, simulation, CPEX testing and research.
