SIA – Management & Regulatory Bodies at Torbay

The post would suit a Stage 3 registrar who wants further experience and training in management, patient safety and quality improvement. 

The post would give direct experience and/or knowledge of regulatory mechanisms (both ACSA and CQC) including:

- guideline writing/updating experience

- delegating and managing audit completion (managing people)

- in a physical visit year, being part of the presenting team to the ACSA delegation

- involvement with any active business cases

- an understanding of the job planning process 

The post would also give direct experience by working closely with the clinical governance lead for theatres to address issues in the quality of patient care, focussing on improvement to patient safety, including:

- support in designing and conducting quality improvement projects 

- adopting a multi-disciplinary approach to patient safety issues

- actions and response to complaints and litigation 

The anaesthetic department at Torbay Hospital have an outstanding history of encouraging and supporting previous fellowship trainees to gain national and international presentations and peer-reviewed publications from the QI work that they have completed during their fellowships; multiple opportunities and support will be available to continue this.
