SIA - Acute inpatient pain at Torbay
The acute pain SAI at Torbay hospital involves close working with our established MDT to provide services to a broad range of in-patient populations including; peri-operative, maternity, trauma, medical, paediatric, palliative care and complex chronic pain.
Clinical learning opportunities involve regular consultant led ward rounds, clinical reasoning and case discussions, pain procedures and relevant out-patient clinics. There is a natural cross-over with regional anaesthesia and peri-operative medicine and opportunities in these areas are imbedded in the module.
Alongside developing expertise in clinical in-patient pain management there will also be opportunities to take part in medical education, quality improvement, audit and service development.
