SIA in Regional Anaesthesia – Torbay Hospital, Torquay
Torbay offers an interesting and diverse 6 month Regional SIA in Regional Anaesthesia. Nationally recognized for Day Surgery Regional Anaesthesia is an integral part of our pathway delivery. 80% of hand surgery is awake under regional. Orthopaedic surgery also offers other opportunities with shoulder/upper limb and foot and ankle dedicated lists and our Trauma lists
As well as the orthopaedic work, there are excellent opportunities in general surgery, breast surgery and obstetrics. The post holder will enjoy the teaching and training at a local level and also potentially a regional or national level.
The post will have protected lists with a focus on Regional Anaesthesia (up to 3 sessions per week) and QI time with an emphasis on Regional work
Training will be provided in:
- Ultrasound techniques
- Ultrasound guided peripheral neural blockade. RCOA Key capabilities (A to F) all covered
- Continuous catheter techniques
- All aspects of Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
The post will concentrate on Regional Anaesthesia but will include the second on call Registrar rota (normally 1:8) and some general day time duties.
